We had another successful year for our organization for which I congratulate the AIMCAANA executive committee and the officers. It is again the time to start the process for the next year election for our association. The election nomination committee has decided the following deadlines for the election process according to the Constitution and Bylaws.

The Election & Nomination Committee and our Association wish to use the election and nomination process as an opportunity for the general membership to select the best amongst those nominated by the membership. As such, we hope that candidates and their supporters uphold the ethical and moral high ground as is expected from them. Each contesting candidate shall sign a code of ethics and conduct after the confirmation of the nomination.

All nominations are to be duly proposed and seconded by members in good standing. The proposed officer must be willing to accept the nomination. Self-nomination is possible but not encouraged. In case of self-nomination, the nominee will be duly seconded by at least three members in good standing. The Nomination and Election Committee will have the sole responsibility for verifying the eligibility of a candidate.

All those who have the AIMCAANA membership by the 30th of July 2016 will have the right to vote. So please make sure that you are AIMCAANA member on or before 30th of July 2016 to have your voice heard. You can become AIMCAANA member by sending annual membership fee of $50.00 or $500 for life membership to Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) on-line at www.appna.org or mailing the check directly to APPNA at 6414 South Cass Avenue Westmont, IL 60559. You may fax the membership form to APPNA with your credit card information to Fax# 630-968-8677. The membership form can be downloaded at APPNA website. You do not have to be APPNA member to become AIMCAANA member but we encourage you to become APPNA member also. You may log on to www.aimcaana.org for more information.

The nomination for the Treasurer, Secretary and President Elect for 2017 can be sent via e-mail to Dr. Atique A. Mirza atique@yahoo.com or Dr Tahir Latif at drtahirlatif@yahoo.com by July 30, 2016 under the subject AIMCAANA Nomination before midnight. Only AIMCAANA registered (paid) members will be able to send in the nominations. The eligible candidates will be announced by the August 5th  2016.

The ballots will be mailed to the AIMCAANA members by the 14th, August 2016 and need to be mailed back by the 15th, October 2016 (post marked).

The ballots will be counted on the day or before the of APPNA fall meeting. The results of the elections shall be announced at the Fall meeting of APPNA after counting in the presence of the representatives of the candidates. If there are only single nominations are received for each candidate’s position, winners will be elected uncontested without mailing the ballots. In case of a tie, a run-off election will be conducted amongst the candidates receiving equal votes and the election process shall be completed by December 31st 2014 with suitable time frames as assigned by the Nominations and Election committee.

The nomination and election committee also request the present leadership of AIMCAANA to submit the complete list of the members in Excel format by August 5th, 2016 to election and nomination committee so that the ballots can be mailed on time. Any delay in this regard will cause serious disturbance in the election process.
